The looming feeling of not having a family to call your own is what most kids without a family experience. Then they’ll get to live with a foster family and get a taste of what it’s like to be in one, but there’s still this thought of them not being your own. It’s really hard to feel like you fit, but you don’t belong.
And then for some, it changes for the better! Like Shailee, who got a super big surprise while in the car on the way home. She thought she was just going to go home. That, to her surprise, wasn’t the case on this particular day.
Sitting in the car totally unaware of what’s about to happen, mom’s got her camera out when dad says, “..we’re going to court for the adoption.” Dad isn’t even through the sentence before Shailee’s face completely lights up, and her mouth drops. She can’t believe the words she’s hearing. She asks if he’s lying, and mom says the words that seal the deal, and bring Shailee to tears – “Today’s your day!”
Shailee goes through the whole spectrum of human emotion going from tears to happiness to joy to excitement to complete and utter shock! She can’t believe what’s happening around her, and how her life is about to completely change in only a matter of hours. This is one happy story that really makes you appreciate the special bond between family.
