Sometimes it’s hard to be the younger sibling. Often, you are overshadowed by all of your older sibling’s achievements. If you have an older brother or sister who has accomplished big things, it’s hard to even to get noticed.
I am the middle child, so I know exactly how it feels to just go about my business without having much of the attention on me. It’s good and bad, sometimes it’s nice to be the center of (good) attention, but sometimes you can get away with a lot. Trust me, your blunders can go unnoticed.
But, for those little ones who do want to outshine their older brother or sister, they are willing to do nearly anything to stand out. They’re determined to do better, be stronger, and make an even bigger mark on the world. Anastasiya Petryk had to follow up the budding career of her older sister, Viktoria and was determined to show everyone that she has what it takes.
Since 2009, both Anastasiya and Viktoria have been regulars on the talent circuit in Ukraine. At just 7-years-old, Anastasiya appeared for the first time on “Ukraine’s Got Talent.” It was her sister’s audition, but the judges invited her on stage to sing as well, and the duo performed a fantastic rendition of “I Love Rock ‘n Roll.” Together, they reached the semi-finals of the show. Think about it: the little girl wasn’t even a participant but her one performance managed to get her all the way to the semi-finals with her sister! Remarkable! What talent!
In 2012, Anastasiya Petryk won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2012 with the song “Nebo.” She and her sister have both won and had high placings in many Ukranian and European singing and talent contests. One memorable performance was Anastasiya’s version of “Oh! Darling” by the Beatles.
In the video below, a tiny blonde girl takes the stage. She’s dressed crisply; her hair pulled to the side in a thick braid. She resembles many little girls, but it’s immediately clear that she has a commanding presence. Even at this young age, she has already spent a lot of time on stage. She performs like a consummate professional and impresses everyone in the audience. It’s no wonder why she’s been so successful!
