Sometimes you just can’t explain the wacky and wonderfully weird behavior of dogs. It goes beyond explanation, beyond words. You try, and you try, and you try your best to predict their next move, what will make them happy or how to connect with them on their level. And even though you know them well, you just don’t know them well enough!
Human mom loves her German Shepherd Maverick. She has a pile of fun-looking toys just for him at home, ready to be played with and chewed. So when she asks, “Out of all of these toys, which ones do you like the most? Show me!” she can’t help but scratch her head.
The adorable dog hears what she says, and makes his way over to the mountain of toys. He looks, then nuzzles his nose in the middle of all of the plushy and squeaky fun stuff to grab his favorite one. He takes it back to his dog bed, curls up and starts to play with it – a crumpled piece of packaging paper!
And the pup couldn’t be happier with his treasure, looking lost in his wonderful reverie of paper tearing. He is content, minding his own business as mom tries to hide her confusion. She’s not disappointed persé, more like she just can’t understand how his little pooch head works! She says, “Good…boy… good…?…boy…?” giving up that she’ll never fully get him, but she’ll always fully love him for who he is – silly choice of toy included!
