6-Year-Old Boy Gives Meghan Markle A Handmade Gift

Whether you watched Meghan Markle act in her older movies, playing Rachel in Suits, or if you didn’t know who she was until she was marrying Prince Harry, you know that she’s a person with a kind heart. She’s got a heart of gold, and clearly loves all the people who show up to meet her.

One of her more popular moments? Taking and putting on a macaroni necklace made by a six-year-old boy, and that’s what the video down below is all about.

This little boy is Gavin Hazelwood, and he had to miss school because he’d woken up with a cough. However, instead, he got to do something better. While Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex were visiting Australia, Gavin went to see them.

Before going, “He whipped together a necklace for Meghan, painted it gold and hoped to give it to her soon,” said Rohan Smith in a tweet on October 17, 2018. Attached to the tweet is a picture of him holding up the necklace and a sign that read, “I made you a necklace.” He sports a big smile.

The necklace is made of dinosaur-shaped pasta and paint! Isn’t that adorable?

However, he didn’t just get lucky with that. Pictures were taken of Meghan, and her necklace stood out amongst her gorgeous dress and $815 shoes.

Because of Gavin’s selfless act and the picture, his necklace and the story behind it ended up going viral.

His mom, Rowan Hazelwood, said, “We had a lot of people saying to Gavin, you should make more, you’ll make lots of money from this, everybody will want to buy her necklace.”

Ever since people saw Meghan with that necklace, he’s gotten requests for that same one, from Australia, the U.K., and the U.S..

The six-year-old who made a necklace for the Duchess out of kindness became an entrepreneur overnight. According to Liftable, “[Gavin] has set up a miniature operation to craft these one-of-a-kind necklaces, and his parents have started a website for them.”

The necklaces are being sold for $20. However, Gavin isn’t keeping the money. He’s donating it to a stillborn research charity, “a cause that hits home,” said Gavin’s mom. Unfortunately, the Hazelwood’s lost a daughter. However, Gavin is doing something about it. He’s turned his fame into something good.
