Growing up, most of us have experienced that heart-pounding moment where we lost our mother or father in a public place like a grocery store. It all seems to happen so fast, which triggers a rush of panic in us even more. Did they just disappear out of thin air? Do they even know we’re gone? Will they ever return? If they forget about us, and we never make it back home?
Due to the intense anxiety, we feel in the latter situation, it’s no wonder that when we find an abandoned baby animal, our first instinct is to help him or her find their mother. It’s the least we can do to ensure they remain happy, safe, and healthy.
In one viral story, a man was driving on a remote highway one day when he spotted a small baby horse standing smack dab in the middle of the road. The skinny foal appeared confused, frightened, and a little jumpy. Not wanting the little guy to get hurt, he decided to pull over to help.
Seeing that just beyond the guardrail separating the freeway from a large, open field were more horses. The man in the vehicle put two and two together: the baby horse somehow made his way over or under the guardrail and had trouble getting back to his momma and the rest of his family. The man knew he needed to reunite them.
At first, the foal was very shy and not trusting of the man. However, the man didn’t give up. Eventually, he was able to pick up the baby horse and place him safely back over the guardrail where he belongs. The look on the mother’s face after she was reunited with her baby was so tear-jerking! You could tell she was incredibly grateful for the man’s kind act.
Once the foal was back with his family, we watch as they all take off, happy as ever before. It’s such a beautiful sight to see!
It’s simple stories like these that remind us that human kindness does exist. If we all took just a few minutes off of our smartphones everywhere we went, we’d be more observant of other humans and animals that may need our help. Giving back to others is one of the most amazing feelings!
