Girl Sings Famous Song Dedicated To Dad With Cancer

When Evie Claire took the stage for her “America’s Got Talent” audition, the audience and judges were not aware yet how this young girl would touch America’s heart. Evie was following her dreams by auditioning for the show, but she had a heartbreaking story to share. Her father was dying from cancer.

The little girl, though, remained brave and, for the most part, kept her emotions in check. In that first audition, she wowed the audience with her beautiful voice and her admirable strength. Over the next weeks, we would see her grow as a performer, but this is where it all began.

“It’s always been my dream,” she said. “Ever since I was little,” Evie explained to the judges why she wanted to sing and perform.

She then shared that she was dedicating her audition performance of Christina Perri’s “Arms” to her father. Her dad was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2016, and even though he was given only a five percent chance to live, he continues to work at a prison in her small town so he could afford to support his family.

“Tonight, I’m here to sing for him,” she said.

The song she performed that night was very special to Evie and her father. “When my dad is having rough days I go up to his room, and I sing him this song to help him feel better and to give him comfort and strength to continue fighting,” she said.

Her stunning performance earned her a spot in the show and Evie made it to the top ten in the competition. Even though she didn’t win, she won the hearts of the judges and public as she bravely shared her family’s story and her dad’s battle with cancer. In my opinion, her unique and heartfelt performances were some of the best of the season.
