Witnessing two cuddly kittens chase one another, or a trio of pups play-fighting over a single rubber bone is enough to surface our sensitive side towards animals. They’re cute, at times relatable, and of course, entertaining. Whether we’re speaking on behalf of cotton-tailed rabbits or scaly lizards, one thing’s for sure: our Earth would not be the same without animals.
However, it’s not every day you see an elephant, and a pup enjoy one another’s company, let alone, have the opportunity to meet husk-to-snout. One gone-viral video exhibits the adorable chase between a baby elephant and a dog, and we just can’t take how sweet it is! The doublet was filmed at Chiang Mai, Thailand’s Elephant Nature Park by a visitor.
In the video, we witness the elephant calf first initiate the chase as the dog begins sprinting while keeping an eye on the large, gray beast.
As much as we can see how frustrated the elephant appears, we can’t help but laugh at the poor elephant who tries to keep up with his quicker canine counterpart, as he slowly “sprints” after the pup while his trunk waddles back-and-forth.
At one point in the video, the elephant feels completely defeated and perhaps a little angry as he begins to swing something hay-like from the grass and aggressively throws it. Whether this was a sign of his frustration or a way to “warn” the dog, the elephant doesn’t give up just yet.
Faster and faster the duo goes in a circle now that Baby Elephant is determined to catch the tiny dog. After the final and abruptly-ended chase, the elephant is exhausted and returns to his family. Boy, that sure was an adrenaline rush!
I really find an elephant’s friendship with a doggo very unusual. Have you seen some other animal friendships that you find weird? Share your stories with us in the comments! Apart from this one, I’ve heard of a dolphin befriending a dog, a dog being good friends with a tiger, and even a tiger falling in love with a human! Some of them can truly be gentle giants, I guess!
To bring a little joy to your day, be sure to watch the video of the elephant playfully confronting the pup below! It will have you laughing for sure.
