Minimalist Couple Builds Elegant Tiny House For Only $33,000, The Inside Is Worth A Tour

You’ve heard all about it—minimalism. Minimalists are people who choose to live a simple life where they have only what they need, not what they want. (Obviously, there are a few exceptions, like owning a tv.)

Gabriella and Andrew Morrison are just a couple of more minimalists. What makes them stand out is that they designed and built their own tiny house—the name is self-explanatory. Their tiny house was built in four months and cost them $33,089.72 in total. It’s a low price for the elegance and comfort of their home which is 28 feet long and 8.5 feet wide.

The first thing you notice about their home is the spaciousness. That’s due to the numerous windows on every wall, the tall ceilings, and the glass door. Inside there is a living room couch that sits on cabinets and is under a framed area made of more cabinets. Right next to it is the office—separated by the same cabinets. The point of minimalism is not filling everything up, so despite the copious cabinets, they’re not filled.

The couple shares the desk, which doubles as the dining table. Their kitchen is full-sized, which is rare. They’ve got the full stove, sink, lots of counter space, and a regular sized fridge—which isn’t filled!

They have two lofts. You get to the sleeping loft with a staircase—a rare for tiny houses— which doubles as storage space for shoes and coats instead of a ladder—which is how you get to the second one.

In the first loft is the bed and their drawers with little clothing, and in the second is their “tiny house lounge” which is a 6-foot wide couch with television by the wall. The bed loft is 8 feet wide, so there’s still plenty of floor space.

Finally, under the secondary loft is the bathroom, hidden behind a curtain. They have a composting toilet, a small shower, and a sink. Above it is a double door mirror that comes with lights.
