I remember my first day of kindergarten. I didn’t want to go. At all. Not even a little bit. I was afraid of the new people, the new smells and hated naptime. I kicked and screamed and made a fuss about going. But once I got there, and had spent a few hours in my classroom, I saw how awesome it was! I thought I had died and gone to heaven – there were a bunch of kids my age who all wanted to play. There were building blocks and story time and show and tell, and after all that excitement, I always said yes to naptime. And then I’d wake up and have – the best part – snack time! Aside from the learning, it was just the best!
I loved it so much; I never wanted to go home. I was happy to be the last kid to leave, and when I formed a teeny tiny crush on one of my classmates, I didn’t ever want to go home! I was heartbroken every Friday afternoon when I wouldn’t be able to return for two whole days, it felt like an eternity! I would kick and scream and whine and begrudgingly, be dragged home. Totally like this dog.
I can relate to this golden retriever. In the video, the owner is with his pup at the park. It seems like this pair had quite a day – there’s fresh green grass, lots of friendly people and plenty of other dogs to play with! There is so much to take in and new scenes to explore! Not to mention, all the fun and trouble you can get yourself into. But all good things must come to an end, and now it’s time to go home.
The owner is ready to go, thinking his dog will follow suit but nope. The retriever doesn’t want to leave this magical wonderland of infinite fetch and decides to play dead. The pup just drops to the pavement and won’t budge. The owner is giggling and tugging at the leash, but the puppy is all about the park. He’s down for the count and has plenty of onlookers watching him.
He’s causing a really cute scene as everyone looks on, curious to see what happens next. The owner approaches him and tugs again. The pup is sitting pretty, but he’s standing his ground – still not going anywhere but here! The owner walks away again, leash in hand, and the pup drops, again, in protest. This episode goes on for a bit until finally, one of them gives up!
