Playing with a ball is one of the first social interactions a child has. It tests their ability to play along, communicate, and send and receive messages. It’s a way to make new friends, or bond with a parent or pick-up hand-eye coordination and get a better sense of interaction.
Oh yeah, and of course, it’s fun! Not only are there plenty of early childhood development benefits, but there are also so many different ways to play and have a good time. The throwing, and the catching, the picking up and running back and forth – there’s lots of fun and bonding to be had with another human, or in this case, an animal.
This little boy seen here, as his parents watch on from the sidelines and with camera in tow, has just made friends with a dolphin! Although the two are from different worlds, they are playing catch on land and in the water like two old buddies from years back. The little boy rolls a large red ball to the dolphin teetering on the edge of the pool. The dolphin catches it in his mouth and gently propels it back to the boy, chittering and squeaking away.
Then at one point, the dolphin balances it on his nose and knocks it away for the little boy to run and fetch. It gets even more adorable when the dolphin splashes back into the water and then jumps back out! He’s so excited he can’t make up his mind if being in the water or on the poolside is better! It’s adorable what these two have going on here!
