Little Boy Throws Ball Over Fence And Plays Catch With Dog

A fence is put in place to mark a boundary, to designate space and distance. Sometimes it’s a barrier designed to prevent escape. Some mark property lines and create privacy, a much-needed structure if you have a pool, for example! As kids, we’d climb ‘em. We didn’t let fences keep us fenced in. If we were playing ball in the backyard and it went into the neighbor’s, we didn’t want to bother them. We’d nominate the best climber to jump over, locate the ball and bring it back to keep the game rolling.

Fences are appropriate for dogs. They can get a little unruly at times, and, fencing them in the backyard so they can play while you go about your day is a happy medium for both parties! It’s playtime for your pup and peace of mind for you.

Then there are some cases where a fence isn’t seen as an obstacle at all. In fact, it’s more of an added benefit, making the game you choose to play more fun. It was one day where this bored doggy, who had no doggy friend or human to play with on his side of the fence, figured he’d try to outsmart the stubborn barrier and get creative.

The video opens to a backyard with a little boy running around. He’s two years old and he’s outside with his parents. Dad, Chad Nelson, is rolling, when mom goes, “He says throw it for me please!” She’s referring to the pup on the other side of the fence who just jumped up and dropped the ball into their lawn, hoping the tiny human would be willing to pick it up and throw it back over.

The little kid races around to pick up the ball, and pitches it over the fence! The dog catches it immediately and jumps up to drop it again for the little boy. This sure is one different way of playing fetch, but it seems to work! The fence just makes things more interesting!

Mom is giggling as her tiny son runs to grab the ball again. He’s thrilled to play with his furry neighbor and throws the ball again for the pup to catch – which he does, instantly. Chad loved this clip of his son and posted it to Facebook and Twitter with the caption, “A fence can’t stop my two-year-old from playing with his new best friend.” Indeed, it can’t! The video has garnered over 10.9 million views!
