Ever shoveled snow before? If no, you’re lucky. I bet you have palm trees around too, my favorite. If yes, I feel your pain, and so does this poor guy. His tale is pretty hilarious and dramatic.
This story is about how snow literally drove a man to insanity. He recounts everything from the first moments of coming into contact with the beautiful, white sparkly stuff to his final moments after he loses his house, wife, and ends up in the psychiatric ward–all because of snow.
Written by an anonymous author, the “Diary of a Snow Shoveler” is a humorous tale of one man’s harrowing snowy experience. At first, it’s a love story. He opens the video saying it’s December 8th. He comments on how stunning it is to watch the snowfall. In fact, it’s so captivating and romantic that he and his wife are perched by the window, looking out for hours with cocktails in hand, as the snow floats from the sky to the ground. He says “it looked like a Grandma Moses print. So romantic, we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!”
As he’s reciting the entries, the video shows a man snow blowing the driveway. The voice continues; there is clearly a lot of snowfall, but he doesn’t mind because “we woke up to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape.” He carries on singing about how lovely everything is, and how moving here was the best idea he’s ever had.
His diary entries progress as the man slowly but surely starts to change his tune. He’s realizing that shoveling snow takes a lot of work–it’s actually really heavy! He learns about how he’s going to need snow tires and that maybe his neighbor’s and wife’s warnings could be right. By December 24th, the man breaks his shovel. He’s not impressed, and by December 29th, when Bob the neighbor tells him to shovel the roof or it could cave in, the man responds by saying, “that’s the silliest thing I’ve ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?”
Let’s just say it goes from bad to worse and is so over the top dramatic, it’s hilarious. At one point, the man falls over outside and doesn’t get up. You will feel bad for the guy, but it’s all in good fun. This clip is definitely one to watch from start to finish.
