You know the saying, “Take time to smell the roses?” Yeah, it gets lost on me too. I know what it means, and I truly, wholeheartedly love what it stands for, so much so that I actively try to take it to heart, but there are days where it’s beyond me. There are times where I’ve totally lost touch with what’s going on around me, times I am so engrossed with what’s on my mind that these beautiful little moments fly right past me.
I am a multi-tasker extraordinaire, but my problem is that I become too focused and don’t zoom out. Well, after watching this man, I think I need to take a page right out of his book. He’s awesome and I’m going to tell you why.
Working a delivery job can get a little redundant. I mean, anything you do day in and day out can turn into a chore (there are some days I’m bored of eating, and I think, “Do I really have to feed myself again? Didn’t I just do that twice already today?????”). But, delivery guys and gals have a few things to consider. They are on a tight schedule and they take the same routes every day. Plus, they have to carry out their business on those extra hot days as well as those extra cold ones!
It’s easy to feel like you’re cooped up in your truck, so imagine how nice it must feel to have to run out and stretch out those legs! Ahhhhhhh. That would totally add a little bounce to my step. In this video, which is home surveillance footage, we see the delivery man park out front of a home and walk out. He’s got a device in one hand and the package in the other. His head is down as he makes his way up the driveway when he sees something out of the corner of his eye. It’s enough to grab his attention and cause him to veer off his path. He makes a sharp right and starts to hop….?
Drawn on the ground is a child’s hopscotch scribble, and the delivery man saw it and didn’t hesitate to take the opportunity to jump through it! A hop, skip, and a jump later, he’s completed the routine and shoots his arms up in the air in victory! It’s such a playful moment and definitely serves as a reminder to never lose your childlike curiosity, no matter how old or busy you are!
