Man Plays “You Raise Me Up” On Pan Flute

What is one of your all-time favorite songs? Is it something that makes you nostalgic and takes you down memory lane? Is it a romantic song that you like to listen to with your partner? Or, is it a recent party number you heard on the radio and just can’t get enough of these days? Whatever the song may be, you know that there is this fun and happy feeling you get when you hear it. It’s like you’re in your happy place.

If I were to answer my own question, I would say that one of my ALL-time favorite tunes has to be Josh Groban’s “You Raise Me Up.” It gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling every time I listen to it, and I can have it on repeat all day. I’m not joking when I say that I usually have this song playing when I’m cooking in the kitchen, and even when I’m going around the house cleaning from room-to-room. It’s just my feel-good song.

There have been so many renditions to this number as well. People have sung it in different forms, adding their own twist to make it more personal, and they’re all great! I’ve even seen people dancing to this song — calm and slow routines to add to the melody. Then there are those who have performed ice skating routines to “You Raise Me Up,” too! Yes, I’ve seen and heard it all because it’s my favorite song. But this is the first time I’ve heard someone play the tune on the flute.

Not a lot of fans know that before Josh made the song popular, it was actually an instrumental called “Silent Story.” So, to bring that element back into the popular song,  David Doring revisits it using the flute, and it’s mesmerizing.

David is known worldwide for his performances. The unique factor of each of his acts is that he always plays songs on the pan flute. This type of flute isn’t something that people use in the modern-day music industry. The pan flute is actually a traditional folk instrument that musicians used to use back in the day.

In this video of David playing “You Raise Me Up,” the scenery fits in perfectly with the melody of the song. It’s a serene and calm place, full of greenery, and David is being pulled along with a horse and buggy. I don’t think the setting for this video could have been any better.
