There are many prized dance routines and fantastic dancers out there. From the choreography of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” to Beyonce’s “Single Ladies,” there are performances that one cannot deny as exceptional. After enjoying the latter choreography, it seems virtually impossible to find visual arts entertainment that could exceed them. Lucky for you, you’re in for something special, that type of cherry-on-top type of special.
One viral dance group completely put the ‘less’ in ‘flawless’ during the Crowd Pleasers Dance Competition 2017. This group known as the Emerald Belles showcased an exemplary high-kick routine composed of complex, accurately-synced moves too elite for an average group of dancers to even come close to replicating.
At the beginning of the video, we watch as the semi-large group of young females scatters around (seemingly aimlessly) only to quickly delve into their choreography once the Eurythmics’s tune “Sweet Dreams” begins to blast. The girls start off in several rows, conjoined hand-to-shoulder to show off their synchronized, quick kicks, steps, and twists.
Just when one thinks these moves were intriguing enough, the Belles in their matching white jumpsuits provide a series of traditional and contemporary entertainment with a dash of abstract touches. The females combine into a variety of shapes, providing a routine well beyond just high-kicks, and even break into smaller groups of varying synchrony to pleasingly mess with the eyes.
The Emerald Belles’ routine also contained multiple waves timed perfectly to offer some playful, connected movement along the dancing group.
The best part about this routine wasn’t just the accurate timing, the dancers’ flexibility, the compatibility of the steps to the beats, or even the moves themselves, but rather the uncertainty of what the group would do next. Each next step was an exciting surprise.
The performance put on by the Emerald Belles below is impeccable; be sure to hit that ‘play’ button!
