Shy 14-Year-Old Girl Floors “America’s Got Talent” Audience With Powerful James Brown Rendition

When you’re an introvert, it may seem like performing isn’t quite in your b***d. But, there are actually many actors and actresses, singers, and other individuals in the public eye that are more to themselves, yet are successful in their field. For one 14-year-old soul singer, Courtney Hadwin from County Durham, England, she fits into the latter group. Never would anyone think that she’d be performing on “America’s Got Talent” with how shy and quiet she is – but she did!

Let’s first start off with a flashback of Courtney’s audition on AGT. She appeared on stage in a dress, black tights, and boots looking a bit frantic. The girl replied shyly to the judges’ questions and would lean from foot-to-foot unable to calm her nerves.

But, the judges’ and the audiences’ jaws dropped when she busted out with her rendition of “Hard to Handle” by Ottis Redding in a loud, powerful voice very mature for her age, leaving judge Howie Mandel no choice but to hit the Golden Buzzer; in case you’re not familiar with this, the Golden Buzzer automatically sends her to the semi-finals! Courtney received a well-deserved standing ovation from the rest of the judges as well as the audience. I’m not surprised.

Fast forward, Courtney steps back on to the AGT stage to sing “Papa’s Got a New Bag” by James Brown. From the first word that came out of her mouth, I was already getting major chills down my entire body. That girl can hit notes!

Unfortunately, the word came out that not everyone is fond of Courtney’s dances while she performs. “Not a lot of people get me,” says Courtney. But, from my perspective, watching her perform is like watching the music take over her body, which is incredibly mesmerizing. She is the perfect example of someone who has a true passion for music. I’d gladly watch her perform live in a heartbeat.

While Courtney has made it far into the “America’s Got Talent” competition, there are still many competitors of different talents up against her, including six other golden buzzer winners: Amanda Mena, Angel City Chorale, Makayla Phillips, Zurcaroh, Michael Ketterer, and Voices of Hope. Regardless of whether or not this singer wins the competition, one thing is for sure, that this girl will have a successful music career if she continues to do what she does!
