Who says cops don’t know how to have a little fun? While they’re always on the prowl safeguarding cities from criminal activity and shady behavior, serving and protecting people from harm, it’s on their off time that this particular crew of officers had to show the world they can work hard and play hard too. The Corinth Mississippi Police Department was challenged by the people of Corinth to do a lip sync challenge, and boy did they ever bring it!
In case you didn’t get the memo, the internet is exploding with different police departments across the USA challenging each other – and seriously upping the ante each time around – to lip sync challenges. The idea is to select a song, and get everyone in the department to act it, sing it, dance it or do a mix of all three on camera. Then send it out and see what happens, and let me tell you, people are loving it. The feedback and coverage have been really big!
Not only do the guys and gals from the Corinth Mississippi Police Department lip sync, they actually take you on a ride, telling a story from start to finish, lip-syncing to more than only one song. Their take is hilarious and seriously well thought out. It starts with two cops in a cruiser, thinking their day is over when they get that last call. They show up, and it’s game on! Breaking into Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition,” these two are outside waiting for the thief wearing a mullet and vested flannel to emerge from the dollar store so they can arrest him.
What follows is a funny and dramatized story of the two officers running to arrest him until they actually arrest him, then bring him to jail, then celebrate with donuts, and then bring him to court. There are lots of characters who join in, like the judge, who makes this video too funny. There was a lot of effort put into it – and the donut scene set to “I Will Always Love You” is the cherry on top!
The soundtrack includes bits and pieces from Queen, Guns ‘N Roses, even Whitney Houston and a surprising, Justin Bieber track! These guys are hilarious. And at the end, they make a shout out to their brothers currently serving overseas, by showing their pictures and making the video in their honor.
