Coors Light Will Be Paying For 1,000 Dogs To Get Adopted In The Month Of February

Approximately 3.9 million dogs enter animal shelters in the U.S. every year, just waiting to be adopted. Sadly, only about a quarter of sheltered canines actually end up finding their forever home. To make matters worse, it is legal for shelters of most states to put animals to sleep if they aren’t adopted on time and/or the shelter has reached maximum capacity. The state I live in (California) has made this situation legal for decades. However, following in the footsteps of Delaware, the only state banning shelters from putting animals to sleep, Governor Gavin Newson is trying to convert California into a no-kill state.

Until then, most shelters in 49 states in the United States will continue to euthanize dogs as the supply-to-adoption ratio remains unbalanced. Although it’s a big issue to address, there’s good news. The beer company Coors Light will be paying for up to 1,000 dogs’ adoptions from February 4th to 21st to encourage more people to adopt.

Coors Light was initially inspired by the defensive tackle of the Kansas City Chiefs, Derrick Nnadi, who recently covered adoption fees for 109 animals at his local shelter following his team’s big Super Bowl win. With the American adjunct lager business engaging in a similar act of kindness as Nnadi, they hope to encourage adoption across the nation.

What is more, the company hopes to spread the love since it is, after all, almost Valentine’s Day.

According to Molson Coors’s marketing manager, Chelsea Parker, “With almost half of millennials planning to stay in on Valentine’s Day, we wanted to help empower people to savor the day with Coors Light and a dog by their side.”

The brand of beer says they will pay up to $100 of the fees per animal being adopted, which will add up to $100,000 in donations coming from the company.

So, how does one qualify to be a prospective candidate for the Coors Light adoption offer?

Participants must be 21 years or older; live in a state other than California, Pennsylvania, Texas, South Dakota, Louisiana, Virginia, or West Virginia; and have a Venmo account (where the money will be reimbursed). No purchase of Coors Light beer is required.

In addition, the company asks that after adopting a dog, they text “COORS4k9” to 28130 along with a picture of the receipt from the adoption.

With more adoptions yet to be covered, make sure to share the video below to encourage your family and friends to take advantage of the great opportunity!
