Groom Rescues Drowning Child During Wedding Shoot

Your wedding day comes with so many sweet memories. It’s a time of togetherness and celebrating your love and the fact that you’ve become one with your soul mate. It’s a beautiful time that the couple shares with both family and friends and hopes that they’ll remember for a lifetime to come. Of course, no one wants to forget whatever happened on their big day.

To ensure that some of these moments are captured forever, couples hire videographers and photographers to get the best pictures and footage of their wedding day. Each and every moment is precious, and so capturing all the events can start as early as the bride and groom begin to get ready.

Just like any other photographer, Darren Hatt was honored to be a part of Clayton and Brittany Cook’s big day. He was hired on to photograph all the moments and he got right to work. After tying the knot, the newlyweds and Darren went to Victoria Park (the couple got married in Canada, Ontario), where they would take some couple shots in a scenic setting.

Everything was going well. The couple looked great and comfortable in each other’s company. Just as they were taking more shots, both Clayton and Brittany saw a group of children playing closer to the water.; Clayton admits that he didn’t have a good feeling about the kids playing so close to the edge. He felt like something was going to go wrong.

The couple continued taking photos. Then came time for Brittany to get in some solo shots, so Clayton moved out of the frame. As this was happening, one of the kids pushed another into the water and things got out of control. The child was distressed, on the verge of drowning, and there was a commotion. As Brittany turned to look around, she noticed that her husband had disappeared. But, where to?

Brittany admits that she first thought that Clayton was just joking around by hiding from them, but then she saw a scene unfold right before her eyes: the newlywed groom was in the water, rescuing the child who was pushed in. Darren also noticed Clayton in there and turned his lens to him, to capture this moment of their wedding as well.

It was a moment of relief for the boy and his family as Clayton rescued him, and one that Brittany could be proud of. I don’t think every couple can say that their photographer captured a rescue on camera, on their wedding!
