Police Officer Captures Kangaroo On The Run With Body Cam

Although kangaroos aren’t known to be the nicest animals around, I’ve got to say, I love their sass and aggression. If anyone is to stand up for themselves and show someone who’s boss, it’s them. But sometimes their behavior can get them into some trouble.

As weird as it sounds, a group of Florida police officers from Fort Lauderdale have first-hand experience with kangaroos (or should I say, a kangaroo). When they received a call to remove a young, loose kangaroo off the streets, they already knew it wouldn’t be an easy task, but boy, was their capture of the marsupial entertaining!

The best part of all of this was that it was caught on body cam.

“I am so happy I have this on body cam. Bob, in your how many years have you ever seen a kangaroo?” one officer said in the background as multiple officers took on the task of catching the wild animal.

In the footage, the officers struggle to keep the kangaroo contained. Like many criminals, it looks like he’s ready to make his grand escape any second.

But, eventually, one officer attaches a pink leash to the kangaroo’s neck, the equivalent of handcuffs for animals, to help keep him a bit more contained. He’s just not having it, though!

After catching him, the next greatest challenge was getting him in the back of the cop car. Two officers had to carry the tiny but mighty ‘roo to the car. His long tail was one issue. The other? His desire to get away from the po-po.

“Hold on, hold on!” one officer yelled as the kangaroo was swiftly moving around in the back of the car before the door was even closed. This isn’t going to be easy.

Fortunately, the animal finally gets situated, and the officers are able to quickly close the door. They leave the pink leash sticking out of the car door so that they have an advantage of getting a hold of him as they take him out of the car upon arriving at the police department.

It turns out, the kangaroo had to spend some time behind bars! Of course, he wasn’t kept in a normal jail cell but, instead, where the officers normally keep their horses.

Maybe next time, the kangaroo will think twice before he causes trouble on the streets.

Watch the police body cam footage of the young kangaroo getting caught in the video below. He’s only two-years-old and already causing havoc! A wild beast at heart, he is.
