As kids, we all have lofty dreams, and when you’re small, the bigger, the better. Go big or go home. But as we get older, and as the realities of life like bills, and age, and self-esteem and other factors weigh in, dreams get put on the back burner or just fade.
Not for Breanna, and a father who says he’s wrapped around his 11-year-old daughter’s finger. This is a remarkable story of faith and belief in one’s own dream as well as another living creature’s potential.
Breanna had a wild dream – she wanted a mare to give birth to a foal, so that foal could become hers and then become a racing champion. Sounds a little far-fetched, no? That’s a lot of moving parts especially considering Breanna’s family isn’t rich, and they don’t have a farm. Plus, it’s kind of a long shot to have a racing horse that actually wins. But, Breanna is daddy’s little girl, and he did what he could to help.
So, first things first. Breanna’s foal was born in an Ohio standardbred. She named him MJB Got Faith, for the initials of the kids in the family and “Got Faith” for her instant connection with him. And it’s this immediate bond she had with the horse that foiled her father’s plans. He thought that maybe once the foal was born, and grew up, the family could sell it because it’s a runt from poor breeding stock.
But Breanna had other plans. Between her unwavering faith and belief, they put the horse that doesn’t belong in the races, in the races. What happens next is amazing. This little girl truly has some blind faith, and it pays off in the end! Just wow.
