When you’re at home cuddled up on the couch with your furry friend, you’re probably not thinking about the other animals in shelters. It’s a stark comparison to be feeding your pet pup wet, organic dog food before putting on their personalized leash to go out for a long walk in the park by the lake – dog treats included – while others are dreaming of a life like this!
There are plenty of dogs, cats, bunnies and more who are confined to a life in a shelter. And while that still is a blessing, doesn’t every furry soul deserve a forever home with a constant supply of TLC? It does happen, and it happened for Benny the pit bull.
Some of the animals were loved and once upon a time had a happy home before their owners moved or passed away. Others are strays and don’t know such a thing. Every rescued kitty or pooch has a story, and some end happy. Benny was brought to the Carson Animal Care Centre in Gardena, California – a high-kill shelter that meant Benny would probably be put down if no one adopted him.
Of course, none of these hopeful animals know that, so each day is spent just living. Waiting. Not knowing what happens next, until it just happens! Days turned into weeks for Benny as he sat in his kennel, and then his luck changed. A worker opened the door to step in and place a leash around Benny’s neck. At first, the pup doesn’t know what to make of this! What’s happening? Notice his tail start to wag – he must know on some level what’s going on!
So, what is happening? Benny’s been adopted, and this video is the moment he gets leashed, and escorted out of the dark, caged up confines of the shelter into the great outdoors and a family’s loving arms!
This story gives me a heartwarming and happy feeling — it’s all about being able to finally see that shining light at the end of the tunnel, and there’s nothing greater than seeing this happy ending for a furry friend. These stories can be more common if we all choose to adopt and not buy. The world can be a better place one adoption at a time.
