Baby Deer Swims In Family’s Pool And Thinks It’s Hers

Those scorching hot summer days where the sun feels like it’s melting the face of the planet and you can cook an egg on asphalt are the best! You know the ones I’m talking about, right? The glaring sunshine-filled hours that are hot and humid and sticky and muggy, and your skin feels slimy day and night, and your clothes never fully feel dry and you always have to have a beverage in your hand otherwise you might faint from dehydration – yeah those. Then you catch sight of a pool and jump in and feel the cool water restore you.

Imagine if we had fur! We’d be 10 times as hot. Think of our beloved pets and the animals outside who walk around wearing a thick blanket, 24/7. Lucky for this little gal, that’s not a problem. She’s got a big pool just for her!

Brittney, from New Jersey, USA, came home to find a soaking wet baby deer lounging by the pool. She called animal control, fearful that the fawn had fallen in and was upset, but what happens next quickly changed her initial thought. “What I thought was going to be a fall into the pool, was actually a step down into it,” Brittney told NJ.com. “Then she just started to pace back and forth near the jets, because she clearly liked the massage, that was very obvious. … And then she just stepped down again and started to swim laps around the pool, like she belonged there. Like she owned the place.”

When animal control showed up, they helped guide the lost fawn back into the woods. But, she managed to find her way back and squeeze in through the fence. It’s a salt-based pool so there’s no harm to the fawn and maybe that’s why she likes it. If it was chlorinated maybe the fawn wouldn’t be so keen. But she is, and has returned several times since the first sighting!

Brittney and her family don’t mind sharing their pool, though. They like having their guest pop in from time to time! What a funny, precocious fawn to make such a discovery and not want to back down. She loves spending alone time in the pool.
