On May 22, 2017, a t*******t attacked the Manchester Arena in the United Kingdom, placing a bomb full of nuts and bolts acting as shrapnel in the foyer of the arena. The bomb was detonated after the concert was over, as children and teenagers left the arena with their parents or made their way to the foyer to meet parents waiting to pick them up. 22 people were killed in the blast, and more than 200 were injured – the statistic rose as time went on following the attack, as the number of psychological injuries went up.
A t*******t attack is an unthinkable act, but one that people have to deal with all over the world. Following these tragedies, there is usually disbelief, fear, and even anger. But, something else often comes from the difficult time – people come together to help one another and lift each other up in the aftermath. Sometimes, the absolute worst manages to bring out the best in people.
A dance act made up of young girls, called RISE, recently auditioned for “Britain’s Got Talent.” Their emotional, moving routine paid tribute to the victims of the Manchester attack – something that hit very close to home for the group. Hollie Booth, one of the group’s members, was a victim of the horrific attack. Nearly a year later, she is still recovering from her injuries and mourning the loss of her aunt, who was killed that evening.
With the support of her friends on the stage, she shared her story, which must have been difficult in such a public place. The girls gave an amazing and inspiring performance; it’s a moving tribute to the victims of the violent attack.
