Dog Walks In During Weatherman’s Segment

The weather rules our everyday life. For me, the moment I wake up, I peek out the window to see what’s happening outside. That 5-second evaluation then helps me decide what to wear for the day. Sandals or rain boots? Sundress or jeans? The weather is also how we make friends out of strangers. How many times have you broken the ice with a comment about the weather? Come on, think about it. Seriously, more than a handful of times, that’s for sure!

What’s happening with the weather affects us. We listen to news reports on the radio and turn on the TV to see what the weatherman or woman is saying. And because we do it so often (or at least I do) we get to know our weatherperson. We get to know their television personality, and wardrobe, their sense of humor and whether or not they’re the kind of person to dress up for Halloween on their segment or predict how they’ll react when live TV doesn’t always go according to plan.

Khambrel Marshall is a weatherman on KPRC 2 in Houston, Texas. He’s part activist, part lover of weather and always dons a colorful bowtie with his suit. I assume Khambrel is kind-hearted and quick thinking — when you’re on TV and represent a media outlet, you have to be both!

It was another day on the job when Khambrel was doing what he always does. Standing in front of the weather map of Houston and surrounding areas, the charismatic, award-winning journalist was ambushed by a cute little fella who wanted to be on TV too! This fluffy white pooch is named Angel, and he’s a shelter dog who was scheduled to appear on the segment following right after Khambrel. Angel was brought in to help raise awareness for the Houston Humane Society, and help shed light on the growing concern of abandoned dogs and cats looking for forever homes.

Khambrel didn’t even notice the dog at first, but then sees him and immediately responds with a warm welcome, scooping up the funny puppy into his arms and seamlessly embedding the “ambush” into his segment. He says, “Oh look what I got here! Hi puppy how are you! You’re on the next segment, but you want to do this segment with me?… Here we go, we have high pressure here… and that high pressure is going to stick around for a long time… We wanna make sure you get a lot of clean water. Make sure you keep your pets inside…” he goes on to provide a couple of tips to help ensure pets are kept happy and safe during the extreme heat. This is just too cute!
