Andrea Bocelli And Ariana Grande Perform An Unforgettable Duet

I love a fabulous duet. One where the two voices intertwine and wrap around and complement each other so seamlessly, it’s like candy to my ears. It takes the right voices to hit that sweet spot of sound. One needs to be high enough, and the other low enough to create the contrast that sends shivers down everyone’s spine.

After listening to this piece just once, it’s safe to say that this duet is up there. With Andrea Bocelli bringing in his Italian pop ballad voice, and Ariana Grande adding in her sparkle, the two set this song on fire. Truly a singing match paired in heaven!

Celine Dion has been quoted saying, “If God would have a singing voice, he must sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli.” I don’t think she’s far off. Smooth, velvety, and full of emotion, the popular tenor’s outstanding career that has spanned decades, is built on his ability to emote through his captivating voice. Paired with Ariana’s incredible range, the songstress steps out of her comfort zone to deliver her take on classical Italian. One user sums up the melting of their voices as, “They both sound like beautiful instruments. Andrea is like a cello. Ariana is like a violin.”

From the mobster drama, “Once Upon a Time in America,” starring Robert DeNiro and James Woods, Andrea and Ariana take the song, “E più ti penso” (in English, “The More I Think of You”) to deliver a soul-stirring duet in a beautiful music video.
Set across different cityscapes, the two singers are never shown in the same place, adding drama and longing to the already forlorn song. Andrea’s voice comes in first, low and pensive before Ariana takes over the next verse–singing in Italian of course! She’s dovetailing her soprano voice that’s in perfect harmony with Andrea’s.

Both singers share the next verse and this is where the song really begins to light up, as they each bring their own brand of vocal power to the table. Even if you don’t understand Italian (I sure don’t), their emotion and beauty shine through, regardless. It’s lovely to hear Ariana take on a new genre and push her voice to become more of the well-rounded artist that she is. Plus, who would ever turn down the opportunity to work with Andrea? I’m sure they learned a thing or two from each other.

From beginning to end, this song resonates. Even the ending trail of Ariana’s voice is enough to cry a little. It’s ok, no judgment on my part–I definitely welled up.
