Technology is meant to enhance the quality of life. It was only ever designed to make life more convenient, easier and accessible, right? Well, then how come sometimes it feels like the complete opposite?! Why does it feel like my phone never stays charged, my tv has way too many remotes, and I spend more time yelling at Alexa than I should because she can’t get it right the first three times?
Yes, it’s a love-hate relationship with technology, and there’s always a learning curve when it comes to mastering it, especially when you’re a kid, just like this adorable little girl who is trying with all her might to get it right.
Amazon’s Alexa device is pretty cool. I mean, what else can you yell orders at and get an instant response? The trick, however, is in mastering the message. While even some adults struggle, it can be a little tricky for kids who are just learning how to formulate sentences. There’s always news across social media about the funniest phrases you can ask Alexa, but I think it’s even more comical to look at how people are hilariously failing at getting their commands right!
This video is of a tiny girl in the kitchen trying to tell Alexa the song she wants to hear. She’s got a cute yellow coat on and she’s facing the device trying to get her message across. But, Alexa doesn’t really get it. AT all. Mom Cryssy Turner captions the video, “She tries so hard to get Alexa to play her jam. She struggled for at least 5 mins before I even started recording,” which is a reality I’m sure a few of us can relate to.
The little girl is adamant though. She defiantly stands her ground, trying over and over again to get her song playing. You can hear little giggles from mom behind the camera. Still, it’s the wrong song. So, she attempts again. Finally, mom can’t watch her baby girl struggle anymore, so she steps in and says, “Alexa, play Baby Shark,” with an emphasis on the “k” sound. The device syncs up the song, and upon hearing the first notes, the girl lets out a very loud scream of joy! After all that hassle, she gets to hear her song.
This moment is one of unbridled delight! All of that hard work to get her song played, and now she can dance around, happy. She’s got the moves down pat, bending her knees and using her little hands and fingers to mimic the motion of a shark. Good for her for never losing hope! Her happy dance is definitely worth all the effort it took to get her here.
