Even though cutting your hair doesn’t actually cause physical pain, it’s still emotional. We get attached to our hair, especially if it’s been growing out for three years just like this little boy’s.
Aiden Cyrus Herrera has long, dark beautiful flowing locks that he’s never cut. Mom and dad have decided it’s time for a chop and that they’d donate the hair to a good cause. But, they’re a little nervous about how their son will react. Will he cry? Get angry? Or, will he absolutely love it? There’s only one way to find out, and they got it all recorded on camera.
It’s Aiden’s third birthday and his hair has grown down to his waist! The video opens to dad holding his son, getting him excited for the haircut the boy is about to get. We see the back of the boy’s head and wow, his hair really is long! To commemorate his birthday, it’s off to the salon for a total transformation. Before heading out, mom says “Aiden’s actually a little excited right now because he’s going to get his first haircut. I’m not sure how excited he’s going to be when he actually gets his first haircut.”
Well, it’s about time we find out. Dad takes him to the salon, and they’re already having fun in the barber’s chair. Aiden looks adorable wearing a little argyle sweater vest, short-sleeved white blouse and silver bow tie. The friend holding the camera asks dad, “When are you going to start crying?” He says, “I’m not gonna cry..” “Yes, you are!” But so far, it’s Aiden who’s a little fussy. Not really knowing what’s going on, he asks for a time-out, preferring that to whatever it is that’s happening around him!
But, it’s game time now. Aiden’s hair is pulled back into a ponytail and dad’s got the scissors in his hand. He takes the blade to the hair and starts to hack away. It’s not one quick snip because the boy’s hair is thick. The cutting takes a little longer than expected and the poor sweet boy starts to cry! He’s uncomfortable as dad finally makes it through the thickness of the hair…. but they succeed! Dad has a big smile and kisses his son all over his tear-soaked little face. As a way to console him, he asks Aiden, “Do you want a donut…?” the boy immediately replies, “Yeah…..” and stops crying! Far too cute! He cheers up right after that.
