Singing doesn’t come easily to many people. There are some people who are born to sing, they’re naturals and they know exactly how to be a good entertainer on stage. Then, and I’m one of these people, there are others who make for really good bathroom singers but nothing more than that!
Although I can say the latter about myself, it’s the former that is true for the five-year-old whose talent we’re about to share with you today. We’re all aware of Sophie Fatu, the little girl who recently took the entertainment industry by storm with her powerful voice and onstage persona.
Where there are a ton of children who would hate all this attention and run from the limelight, Sophie is quite the opposite. She takes her spot in the center of the stage and takes on the audience and judges head-on. She’s ready to speak to the judges and answer all their questions with confidence. To be very honest, a lot of us adults would get nervous standing in front of thousands of people in an unknown venue. But, not Sophie, she’s a natural on stage.
So, here we have Sophie on “America’s Got Talent,” and she’s ready to belt out another Frank Sinatra classic. Before we go on, let me tell those who don’t know, Sophie only sings Frank’s songs, and she does them justice in her own way. It was no surprise that even when she came onto the “America’s Got Talent” stage, a Frank song was warranted.
But first, there is some back and forth with the judges, and Sophie is so adorable while talking to them. What garnered her so much applause and all the “awws” from the audience was the answer to this question: “Sophie, what will you do with $1 million?”
To that, Sophie has the simplest response: “I just want to sing and make people happy.”
You wouldn’t expect a response like that from a five-year-old. But, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen, little Sophie is much more mature than a lot of young ones her age.
Simon then goes on to ask her if this means that if she wins, they don’t have to give her the money, and she simply says, “No.”
Such an adorable child, who goes on to sing “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra.
