Summer is here, and that can only mean one thing: heat! Of course, when the weather is hotter, you and everyone you know is going to want to keep fresh. Whether you prefer blasting the AC, grabbing an ice cream, or even taking a dip in the pool, it’s clear that there are many ways to help beat the blazing summer heat, and trust me, you’re going to want to unless you live in a cooler region.
When it comes to our pets, even though some of them can be more tolerable of the higher temperatures, they still appreciate the option to keep cool.
We’ve all heard radio talk show hosts, newscast members, and even our friends on Facebook discuss the importance of not walking your dog on asphalt during the hottest parts of the day, and of course, not leaving your pets inside a vehicle in warmer weather. Tragedies can arise from both of these actions.
But when it comes to our pets trying to keep cool on their own, it seems like they’d just rather tolerate the heat at the time — like my cats who enjoy basking (or baking) in the sun in 100+ degree weather.
However, one black Labrador by the name of Teal decided that her black coat was just not going to cut it in the hotter temperatures, so what did she do? She made herself comfortable in a kid’s pool in her owners’ backyard! Sounds like a wise plan to me. Most dogs would just swim around for a minute or two or just take a quick dip only to get out shortly after and shake their fur. Typical dog stuff, right?
But Teal, whose adorable act was caught on film, by the way, was splish-splashing away in the kiddie pool as if no one was watching her. She swam to and fro, splashed all around, and even attempted a backward stroke. (I hate to be that person, but I think Teal needs some major swimming lessons!)
Nevertheless, the swimming pup was absolutely hilarious and cute at the same time. As a bit of background information, Teal’s owner intentionally purchased the pool for her to soak in, but never did they think she would be so incredibly fascinated with the pool, but she was.
If you live in an area that gets very hot in the warmer months, maybe consider purchasing a small kiddie pool for your dog(s) too!
