Weddings are a big deal. There are so many things to consider and people to invite. It’s a huge day that the bride and groom will remember forever. And, when you’re royalty, everyone else around the world is going to remember it too! Choosing a stunning venue, selecting the finest food and drink, inviting a star-studded list of guests, providing fabulous entertainment – all of these things become exponentially more public and far more grand when you’re Prince Harry and Megan Markle. No expense is spared for the wedding of the decade!
Lola, a little girl from Belfast, Ireland, had very high hopes that she would be attending “Megan’s wedding.” She was ready to board a plane to London and pick up her dress on the way, except for one minor detail – she didn’t know she wasn’t invited.
Lola’s mom, Ashlee Brown, is in the kitchen making dinner when the tiny red-headed girl wanders in asking about the royal wedding. “Mum is my dress for Megan’s wedding in London or are we going to pick it up on the way to the airport to go to London?” It’s at this point that Ashlee comes to the heartbreaking realization that Lola seriously thinks she’s going to the Royal Wedding, and she has to do some damage control. “But you didn’t get an invitation, love.” This remark makes Lola’s eyes slightly widen, and turn her head away. She’s trying to hold back her tears. It’s so precious and heartbreaking at the same time. Ashlee writes on her YouTube page, “….My heart is broke, that her wee heart is broke that she’s not going!”
Ashlee attempts to explain that Megan’s wedding is only for royalty, and you have to be a prince or a princess to attend. “Am I not a princess?!” She’s in tears and bawling at this point. Lola is beside herself, so disappointed that she didn’t get invited. Ashlee gives Lola a hug and kiss and tries to console her by saying they’ll go shopping and do other things.
In the end, after the tears and tough realization, Lola has come to terms with not being invited. She’s come to the conclusion, after talking with mom, that, “…probably Megan doesn’t know me.” Ashlee agrees, saying that Megan doesn’t know her and that’s why she wasn’t invited. Lola nods her heads. She seems to be okay with this and the confusion is cleared up. What a sweet little girl. I hope she gets to make it to a grand wedding one day!
