Rescuers Set Two Circus Lions Free After Being Encaged For 8 Years

We often feel afraid when we see lions, fearing they’re capable of harming or attacking us. But these two lions are the ones fearing for their lives having spent eight years with the circus.

Tarzan And Tanya Grew Up As Part Of A Circus Since They Were Cubs

The two lions were raised with terrible abuse in the circus where all they had was each other. This is how they formed such a tight bond.

Along With Nine Other Tigers, Tanya And Tarzan Are Saved By A Group Of Rescuers

Animal Defenders International found them and helped them get settled into a temporary sanctuary in South America until the pair can be moved to a more permanent location in South Africa.

At first, Tarzan was hesitant to come out of their cage because of fear, but Tanya seems to assure him that she has got his back.

The Rescuers Notice That Tarzan’s Teeth Need To Be Treated

While the lions are enjoying their new space, the sanctuary’s veterinarian noticed that Tarzan’s teeth are seriously infected. An emergency procedure had to happen which set Tarzan free from the pain he has been silently enduring all those years.

It is a long trip, but the rescuers stay by the lions’ side and keep them calm by spraying lavender oil around them.

Although Tarzan is still hesitant at first, he eventually gets comfortable with the vast area where they can now freely run and play on.
