Any pet owner knows just how dangerous it can be to simply back out of your driveway. I know for me personally, we always have to keep an eye out to ensure one of our kitties snoozing on the warm concrete doesn’t end up like a flat pancake. What is more, in the wintertime, you then have to worry about your pet sleeping on your tire or within the warm, protected hood of your vehicle. The last thing you’d want is to seriously hurt, or even lose, your sweet pet through an accident.
One kitten was particularly lucky when he, after traveling 91 miles under the hood of the car, was found okay. How scary to think that his life could have been taken just like that!
The Illinois kitten decided to snooze inside Jennifer Donini’s vehicle one day without her knowledge. Of course, not knowing there was a kitten inside her vehicle, Jennifer started up her vehicle and embarked a 91-mile drive home back to Highland.
About an hour and a half on the road, that’s when Jennifer heard a strange noise that sounded a lot like meowing. And, well, it was!
She then pulled over to open her hood to find the culprit.
Underneath the hood, after a while of searching, was a cute, furry kitten.
“I couldn’t believe it,” Jennifer admitted. “I didn’t know what in the world to do. I was by myself on speakerphone with my mom trying to find where this kitten was.”
Not only did Jennifer have no idea where the kitten even came from, but she was shocked that the feline was able to survive the long drive. The hood of her car was extremely hot, but somehow, the kitten managed to survive.
With the help of her family and about an hour of searching, Jennifer was able to help free the kitten, which happened to be adorable, gray-and-white, and approximately 7-week-old.
Jennifer took to social media to find a potential owner for the miracle kitten. Soon enough, she realized that her coworker’s sister-in-law would be the perfect person to care for the kitty.
With how lucky this tiny cat was to be able to survive such dangerous conditions, he was named Duck.
“He is certainly a very lucky duck,” Jennifer said.
I agree! Sometimes it amazes me how animals are able to stay safe during such scary situations such as this one. Now, Duck now has the opportunity to live his best life with an owner who truly loves him.
