Let’s talk about Chris Evans for a bit. The 39-year-old is an incredible actor, no doubt. He’s made many appearances on television and has starred in numerous films. The dude’s got talent, and even better, he is a great guy with good intentions.
The latter statement I made about him became very apparent recently when he gifted an authentic Captain America shield to a young, brave boy.
Mr. Evans knew the shield belonged to six-year-old Bridger Walker after hearing about what he did on July 9: save his sister’s life. Upon witnessing his little sister being attacked by a dog, the child stepped in, willing to let himself get badly injured in the process. The famous actor was completely blown away when he learned of this.
“Pal, you’re a hero, what you did was so brave, so selfless — your sister is so lucky to have you as a big brother,” Chris Evans told him in a video message. “Keep being the man you are. We need people like you. Hang in there; I know recovery might be tough, but based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think there’s much that can slow you down.”
Not only is Bridger’s sister doing fine following the incident with the dog, but Bridger himself is also recovering smoothly, according to the siblings’ mom, Nikki Walker.
“After receiving 90 stitches (give or take) from a skilled plastic surgeon, he’s finally resting at home,” she said. “We love our brave boy and want all the other superheroes to know about this latest hero who joined their ranks.”
90 stitches… What?! There’s no way he can’t not be a hero. His brotherly love is too strong.
Although it wasn’t anything near the extent of Bridger’s heroic act, this reminds me of the time my at-the-time 4-year-old brother and I were playing the ocean when he fell and began getting “sucked into” the ocean. He started to panic, being so little and not able to quite swim just yet. I quickly grabbed onto him and pulled him to safety. An older sibling will always look out for their younger sibling, no matter the circumstances. It’s moments like this that you will never regret!
The Cheyenne, Wyoming boy truly is a hero and a great brother to his sister. He’s young, of course, but we can’t underestimate the size of his heart. And there’s no doubt in my mind that little Bridger deserves Captain America’s shield! He’s pretty much already a mini, real-life Captain America.
Meet Bridger, aka the mini Captain America, below.
