Do you have a bucket list? You know, a list of things that you wish to do or experience before the end of your life? I can’t say that I do personally. There are things that I wish to accomplish and definitely things that I don’t want to do with my life, but I’ve never been one to make a list and pressure myself into doing each of those things. But I still find it neat that many people out there are choosing to do so. It’s a great way to keep spontaneity, adventure, and fun in your life!
You’ll quickly learn that you’re never too young or too old to start a bucket list if you haven’t already. And if you already have one, you’ll discover that a bucket list doesn’t have to be completed super early on in your life. In fact, Ruth Bryant recently crossed off “get arrested” off her bucket list on her 100th birthday.
On Ruth’s triple-digit cake day on March 3, 2020 during lunch at Cambridge Hills, she was approached by deputies R.D. Weaver and Tevin Dixon from the Person County Sheriff’s Office in Roxboro, North Carolina. The men stepped out of a police car with flashing lights to make the arrest as realistic as possible.
Although it was all planned, Ruth roleplayed as best as she could, acting surprised as she was “arrested” for “indecent exposure.” During the arrest, which included real handcuffs, she told one of the officers that he was getting on her last nerve! You bet that witnesses in the room were in laughter, as were the deputies.
Ruth was put in the police car and taken all the way to her local jail. As she was getting out of the vehicle, she told the deputies who they should really arrest.
“The people who make these low d*mn seats in all these cars. You ought to arrest every one of them,” she said.
Once she stepped foot into the police station, Ruth got to take a mugshot to complete her experience.
Although Ruth hasn’t been arrested for real during her lifetime, this was something that she had been wanting to do for quite some time. Maybe she wanted to feel like a bad girl, or maybe she was just curious to know what it felt like to be locked in handcuffs and taken to the big house. But in either case, the stunt was as entertaining for her as it was for us!
