Wife Goes Into Labor Right When Her Soldier Husband Arrives Home From Overseas

As a military wife or husband, you must be prepared for challenges that your average married couple wouldn’t have. More household duties, fewer date nights and more “I miss yous,” dealing with anxiety about your partner’s safety while they’re deployed…the list goes on. It takes a strong and independent individual to support their partner’s military dreams while they hold things down back at home.

Although Katrina was the perfect wife for her Marine husband, Marc, she couldn’t help but wish that he could spend time with her more often. Just three months into Katrina’s pregnancy, Marc was told that he had to fly to Afghanistan for six months. If you do the math, by the time he’d be returning home, his wife will be nine months pregnant or possibly already holding their newborn daughter!

While Marc was dedicated to his job as a Marine soldier, he crossed his fingers that he would be home to watch his wife give birth. When their first daughter was born, he didn’t have that luxury as he was on duty at the time.

Luckily, the day before Marc’s homecoming, he talked to Katrina. The baby still wasn’t born! He was thrilled. At this rate, the chances of him seeing his child being born were at an all-time high.

Then came the big day. While Marc was boarding a plane to come back to the States, Katrina was feeling a strange pain in her stomach. Having given birth in the past, she knew exactly what this meant: The baby would be soon to arrive. As her contractions began to speed up and become more painful, the mother and wife hoped and prayed that Baby Girl would stay put until after her husband safely arrived home.

Katrina was eager for Marc’s arrival, so much so that she called and texted him numerous times, hoping he would check his messages after getting off the plane and rush to greet his wife who would be waiting for him. And he did. He told everyone on the plane that his baby was being born, allowing him to be moved to the front and quickly spot his very pregnant wife.

“NOT a drill… BABY’S COMING!” read a homemade sign that Katrina held up for her hunky Marine as she waited patiently yet eagerly with their toddler daughter.

The husband and wife were able to share some kisses and snap a few photos together after not having seen each other for half a year. While military homecomings are to be cherished and not to be rushed, things were urgent for the couple.

“Ok, we gotta go!” Katrina announced as she and her husband, who’s still in uniform, made their way to the hospital.

Although Marc was probably exhausted from work, let alone jetlagged, staying up to see his beautiful wife give birth to a healthy baby girl, who they named Juliana, was beyond worth it!
