If you’ve ever owned a dog, there’s a good chance that you know how excited they get when you open the door to let someone in. Unless your canine has a bit of a territorial streak, you’ve probably witnessed your furry friend prancing around the room in excitement or even jumping on your guest and greeting them with several sloppy doggie kisses the second you open that front door.
Like many dogs, Milo the long-haired chihuahua also has a tendency to become animated when his owners open the door to let someone in. The pup may be small, but he has a huge appetite for socializing and meeting new people. So when his human momma brought home a tiny human in a baby carrier one day, everyone knew he would immediately get along with the latest addition to the family!
Even before Mom even gets the baby out of the car, Milo peers out the door and already started to get antsy, hence his swiftly wagging tail and whimpers. By the time Mom and Baby Sister make it to the outside of the home, the pup jumps onto the couch, spins, and yells out loudly before jumping back to the floor and zooming around like a nut. He’s really happy!
Mom, who still has her hospital bracelets on, sets down the baby carrier, and immediately, Milo runs over to say hello. He gives Baby Girl several sniffs and even gives her a kiss. Milo approves!
But clearly, the chihuahua has way too much energy in his system. Throughout the video filming of him meeting his new baby sister, the pup takes some breaks to run around the living room and keeps grabbing his rope toy. At one point in the video, Milo places his toy on top of the newborn as if he’s hoping she will play with him. Sorry, fella, she’s still a little too young (and not to mention, kind of in the middle of a nap). Maybe someday!
Although many people feel anxious when it comes to letting their pets get close to their baby or young child, Milo’s owner had a good idea of how he’d respond and knew his personality would be a good fit for the baby. Just to be on the safe side, Milo’s mother stood right by the baby carrier the entire time and occasionally put her arm up just in case she needed to contain the wild pup.
How do you feel about bringing dogs around an infant? If they’re anything like Milo, you can probably rest assured knowing that they’re no threat!
