Being a good singer is less about having a solid voice and more importantly about how their voice is used. For instance, a singer must know how to properly amplify their voice, hit certain notes without straining their vocal cords, and contrast their voice with different instruments. Generally, the condition of one’s singing voice has a correlation with the underlying knowledge they have of the production of acoustics.
That said, the phrase “quality over quantity” definitely applies in the world of singing. Someone who has been singing for well over a decade may still have skills yet to be mastered whereas someone who has been singing for just a few years may have greater expertise.
Then 17-year-old Toronto, Canada-born singer, Tiffany Day, is one great example of someone who knows how to deliver a quality vocal performance. In fact, during a trip to Italy with her high school choir, Tiffany took the opportunity to showcase her beautiful voice when she spotted an old, Italian well. Not only was the well attractive, but it would offer a phenomenal sound system for Tiffany’s singing.
Fortunately, the teen’s incredible cover of Leonard Cohen’s famous song, “Hallelujah,” which she sang into the well, was recorded by one of her classmates or teachers. Since then, the viral video earned over two million views and counting! Although Tiffany doesn’t sing the entire song, the small sample she delivers is enough to prove she has the voice of an angel.
Singing into the well not only helped amplify Tiffany’s voice, but it also helped transform her raw singing into a chilling echo. The echo, while it’s just a lovely bonus, is perfectly fit for “Hallelujah.” If you close your eyes, it almost sounds like Tiffany is singing in a large cathedral!
If there’s anything to say specifically about Tiffany’s performance, it’s that she has a very clear and consistent, yet versatile, voice with a great range. It’s not all that common to come across someone her age that already has that professional of a singing voice.
Conducting a brief search on Tiffany Day, you’ll discover that she’s definitely made a mark in her music career. The now 19-year-old has since moved to Los Angeles to pursue professional singing. She has multiple songs and music videos out. Apart from singing, the young adult can play the piano, guitar, and violin. She sure has a lot of talent up her sleeves!
