Puppy Wakes Up After Being Put Down, Gets Brand New Life

Just when you think that’s the way the story goes, a new plot comes into play. Something big and life-changing rocks your world in a way that doesn’t kill you, it only makes you stronger and so much more grateful for everything you have. Have you ever had that happen to you? It’s a reminder that there are bigger things happening behind the heavenly curtains that humans (and dogs!) just can’t see.

For this pup, he beat all the odds. What everyone figured would be a routine procedure, ended up making waves across the internet. What could have been just another sad case, ended up being a very happy and improbable story that makes you wonder, what else is there?

Rudolph, a 7-8-month-old Labrador retriever-American pit bull mix just went through a pretty harrowing experience but has since come out on the other side, into a much better, and fulfilling life. “He was at a shelter that was full so the vet euthanized him. But God had a different plan because he woke up. And thank goodness the vet said he wouldn’t do it again,” the King’s Harvest Pet Rescue No Kill Shelter said on Facebook. This strong-willed, defiant pup just got another chance!

No one is sure how Rudolph was able to survive being euthanized, as he was put to sleep but actually woke up! It’s believed that he may have been given an incorrect amount of the lethal drug or perhaps it was injected in the wrong location. Whatever the reason, “He’s a miracle dog, absolutely,” says Kylie Jo Mitchell who works at the pet rescue. “I’ve never heard of anything like this, ever. This is a first.”

After the whole ordeal, rescuers swooped in and brought the alive-and-well Rudolph to Kings Harvest in Davenport, Iowa, a ‘no-kill’ shelter that aims to find families for all of their animals. “We brought him to our shelter in hopes somebody would come [to] adopt him and give him a second chance at life,” shelter officials said via Facebook.

Once the brave pup made it to his new shelter, sudden of interest arose. His adorable picture has been posted and shared more than 2,000 times with hundreds of comments from people who are baffled and moved by his story, but also from dog lovers interested in adopting him. Since the social media outreach, Rudolph has been matched with an owner, unnamed by the shelter. He’s got a new life, a new home and lots of love coming his way!
