At the age of just 12, Oklahoma-based ventriloquist, Darci Lynne Farmer, was featured on ‘America’s Got Talent.’ In response, millions across America fell in love with her incredible talent. In fact, the young girl ended up winning the 12th season in 2017 among dozens of other talents.
While Darci Lynne had already earned her well-deserved title and prize, she was honored to come back to perform for AGT’s new series, ‘America’s Got Talent: The Champions.’ Entering this competition, Darci Lynne will have a shot at winning again but this time the World Champion title!
Before Darci Lynne’s first performance, she admitted to the judges that she was very nervous. For a shy, small-town girl who has just risen to fame in the past couple of years, we can all agree that how she feels is completely understandable. However, once Darci Lynne and her humorous puppet, Oscar, began their performance, the ventriloquist seemed anything but bubbly, confident, and positive in front of the large audience.
Just seconds into the act, the judges and audience were already laughing.
“So Oscar, are you a little nervous to be back on AGT?”
“Um, yeah, a little.”
“Oh, it’s alright. It’s going to be so much fun. I mean, the crowd is here, the judges are here. It’s like we never left!”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right. I mean, Simon’s even wearing the same clothes!”
Just from this part of the performance, it seems that one of Darci Lynne’s ways to get over her stage fright is to use humor. In a way, Oscar’s insecurities about being on stage might be reflecting Darci’s own fears. As Darci takes on a confident role, her own fears as a performer subside.
Not long after Oscar and Darci’s conversation, Oscar begins singing ‘Rollin’ on a River.’ Although Oscar the puppet has only sung a few lines thus far, Judge Mel B. is already telling Howie Mandel how good it is.
Just when we thought we were getting a tune by Oscar, Darci Lynne also chimes in with her powerful singing voice. Perhaps the hardest part of Darci’s act is when she has to switch between Oscar’s singing and her own singing. However, she managed to do it flawlessly.
After that performance, Darci Lynne should strongly consider auditioning on AGT again, but this time as a singer! With the many talents she has, there’s no doubt that her future will be as bright as the California sun. She’s beautiful, funny, a great speaker, and an excellent ventriloquist and singer.
