For anyone who has a pet, you know that they are the center of your world. A pet is a prominent member of the family and when he/she is hurt or in need of help, pet owners leave no stone underturned to make sure their dog, cat, or any other animal, is comfortable and restored to good health as soon as possible.
But, I’m sure us humans are ten times more devastated at the thought of losing their beloved pet, and when it happens they will go through anything to get them back. Sometimes, lost dogs and cats are found very easily—they’ll be roaming around about a block away, just curious to see what lies on the other side of the road; but other times, pets go missing for a very long time, and eventually, pet owners lose hope of any reunion and are left heartbroken.
However, things took an interesting turn for one family when a dog was rescued from a canal last week. According to the Dayton Daily News, animal control officers were called to a scene where a dog was stuck in a slick canal. This incident happened in Riverside, California.
Apparently, the dog had to be brought over to a spot with lower banks in the canal, and the team needed four officers to get the job done. Once the pup was at the location, the officers looped him and brought him up to safety. This is where the story gets more heartfelt. As per an earlier news report on this pup, it turned out that this dog was missing for the past nine years. So, after his rescue from the canal, the officers were able to reunite the pup with his family through the information they got from the microchip.
Although limited information is available on where the dog has been for the last nine years and the family’s account on what happened and how the pup went missing, we’re glad that this story ended the way it did. It’s a heartfelt tale of a much-awaited reunion—nine years is a very long time!
These rescue stories are definitely ones that put a smile on everyone’s face! It’s one thing that an animal is taken out of a dangerous situation and brought to safety, but it’s a totally different thing when a dog is rescued and sent back home after several years!
