Sir Thomas John Woodward is a Welsh singer and has always been popular amongst the masses. He is best known to sing gospel, dance, pop, R&B, country, and show tunes. This popular singer has been in the business for the last six decades and has seen success like not many singers can admit to experiencing. He is more commonly known by his professional name, Tom Jones.
After singing for over 30 years, Tom revamped his career in the entertainment business by becoming a coach on the popular TV show, The Voice UK. He signed the showed back in 2012 and has been a consistent coach ever since, minus taking a step back in 2016.
Regardless of age and the fact that he doesn’t have any new songs out anymore, Tom is still the heartthrob of many women. His voice is still known to be robust and “full-throated.” Anyone would love to be serenaded by Tom, and it comes as a lovely treat when he decides to sing live. A live performance actually happened on one episode of The Voice UK.
The man appeared on the show alongside the other judges — Olly Murs, Jennifer Hudson and will.i.am. — when Olly began singing tidbits of one of Tom’s old songs. Tom loved this gesture and encouraged the singing with an enthusiastic, “yeah! Exactly!” That’s when the audience got an idea. Everyone in the room slowly began chanting Tom’s name, encouraging him to sing for them. At first, he wasn’t up for the idea, trying to get out of the situation. Then, the familiar tune begins to play in the background and will.i.am sings a few words. This gesture gets Tom into the full singing mood and he decides to give it a go!
When he begins the song, it seems as if Tom is actually shy. He’s not that loud, rather contained and calm. But, soon enough, he lets loose and gives the crowd a performance they won’t ever forget. He not only sings but also adds in a few dance moves as well!
The audience is loving every moment of this impromptu performance. They’re dancing, with some help from Olly, clapping, and snapping along to one of their most beloved tunes. The energy in the room changes the moment Tom starts to sing, and it’s a true treat.
