Most people cringe when it comes to public speaking. It can be a little nerve-wracking when you have to speak at your cousin’s wedding or present a major pitch to your boss. While some of us might have nightmares about these sorts of things (ever had that dream where you find yourself standing in your underwear at a podium in front of thousands of people with nothing to say? It’s a little awkward.), others truly bring it when they’re required to put on a good face in front of the masses. I can go as far as saying that they love it!
When it comes to performing in the spotlight, even fewer people sparkle and shine. That’s a whole other can of worms because it involves an entirely different skill set, like zero fear, lots of confidence and oh yeah, talent. [goolgead2]
Malea Emma Tjandrawidjaja is just 7-years-old, but she already knows what she’s good at. She’s no wallflower and proves that she’s pretty comfortable putting herself out there in a packed stadium of 25,00 people! Malea participated in a social media contest that landed her the coveted spot of singing the national anthem before a soccer match between LA Galaxy and the Seattle Sounders. After watching this video, it’s easy to see why she was selected.
The tiny girl makes her way onto the field clutching a huge mic in her little hand. She’s got long brown hair that’s almost as long as she is tall, and she’s wearing an LA Galaxy jersey. Right after her introduction, Malea jumps into it, summoning her power and grace to really drive home the American national anthem. And wow, does she ever hit it. I’m certain no one saw all this power come barreling out of such a small human!
She makes her presence known, hitting those sky-high notes with ease. Even Zlatan Ibrahimović, LA Galaxy forward player, looks beyond impressed with a big smile on his face. Not one person was disappointed with Malea’s heartfelt performance. She sings it acapella too! No instruments, no recorded music, just a little girl with lots of raw talent. In the end, she really shows her true diva colors by pulling out some Mariah Carey and Celine Dion notes. You don’t want to miss this performance!
