When you stop and think about it, dogs are funny creatures and our relationship with them as humans is a little strange. Somewhere along the way, in the long span of history, dogs became an undeniable part of our lives. Even people that don’t have dogs as pets are sure to know someone who does.
We simply accept that some people choose to live with these funny, furry beasts that don’t speak our language and have completely different needs and priorities from humans. We make them a part of our family and in many cases, a dog may be a person’s closest companion. At the very least, most owners consider their dogs to be an important part of their lives. We don’t think twice about seeing someone walking their dog, taking them on trips, or letting them sleep on their sofa or in their bed. People buy homes with a backyard just so their dog can have a safe place to run and play. They buy special food and make sure that their dog has the best of everything available.
It’s definitely a strange relationship, but as I can tell you from personal experience, it’s a rewarding one. We provide our dogs with basic care like food, shelter, and social companionship and in return, they share with us their unique ability to love completely and unconditionally. Even though most dogs show us this type of love, we can’t deny that every dog is different.
Like humans, dogs have their own individual personalities. We can train them to do certain things and the way we treat them can impact their behavior and the way they interact with people, but they have traits that they are born with. Some dogs are outgoing and social while others are more reserved. Some dogs are bouncy and energetic, but many are lazy couch potatoes. Many dogs are aloof and like their personal space, but just like the dog in this video, there are plenty of cuddly lap dogs.
It’s not uncommon for a dog to want cuddles and to be as close to their human as possible, but this dog is a little different — he’s a Great Dane! He’s adorable and lovable, but he’s a little big to be in a person’s lap. Fortunately, it looks like his human best friend doesn’t mind at all.
