Parrot Busts Out Moves To Latin Classic

Ever seen a dancing bird? Neither had I until I watched this video of Jerry the dancing parrot. Parrots are known for a few unique moves. Some are considered “dancing” while others are just their weird idiosyncrasies. If you ever hear a parrot make a “snakey” hissing sound, steer clear. This is a territorial warning and is made to try to ward off potential predators or anyone that gets too close! Parrots even do this head bob thing to signal that they are about to upheave food for their young, so don’t get too close to that, either!

But, if you’ve ruled out the above mentioned, then it’s safe to assume that they are, in fact, dancing! You can tell by the running back and forth motion, the side to side wobble, and even a foot or wing that gets lifted up! Parrots naturally like and respond to beats that are catchy and simple, usually pop, rock or folk. Even some chatter, whistling, singing and talking is a good indication that the song is well received! Loose fluffed out feathers, beak grinding and tongue clicking are other good signs, as opposed to slicked back feathers, and shivering which means the bird isn’t happy!

Jerry is clearly in his happy place. His owner has just turned up the music, playing the 80s Latin hit, “Lambada” by Kaoma, and Jerry has a little platform all to himself. His owner is moving her arms, guiding him and showing him what to do, but this little guy is ripping up his own personal dance floor all on his own! What’s even more heartwarming is that the woman appears to be having just as much fun as the bird. They are an unlikely pair of dance partners, but adorable nonetheless! I bet you haven’t seen a dancing duo like this one now, have you?

And, this goes on for minutes, neither dancer losing speed, both equally entertaining! How cute is this match? This moment just goes to show that when a song is really good, it goes far beyond the reaches of language and the linear plane of words and music notes. It touches the heart, moving the soul of anyone who listens, birds included!

Click below to watch this hilarious moment. I’ve never seen a bird dance like this before. He’s got some really advanced moves for a little, feathered creature! And, he doesn’t tire out or get bored.
