There’s nothing like a good dance song to make you jump off the couch and get you moving. Something that’s got a little attitude and a bouncy beat. There’s gotta be catchy lyrics, a good guitar riff and it has to be fast moving. Otherwise, where’s the fun? It’s only a good time if there are big smiles, epic dance moves and a lot of energy from everyone involved.
Here’s another really great lip sync challenge from the Nixa Police Department in Missouri, USA, who wanted to get in on the action and show the world they got moves like Kevin Bacon!
Using Kenny Loggin’s megahit from the 80s classic “Footloose,” these off-duty ladies and gentlemen put together an A+ performance. What’s more, they’re not alone. They got their community involved to play an active role in the challenge. Not only are they paying tribute to the original music video (notice the close-ups of their feet dancing across the screen), but they also wanted to incorporate everyday locals as a show of good will and to reinforce how community-centric the Nixa Police Department is. Residents include kids and the elderly and everyone in between, dancing and singing and having a really good time “kicking off their Sunday shoes.”
What’s more, they did this all on their own, together as a unit. The department says, “No budget, no production company (shot and edited by our Public Information Officer who studied production), and all officers donated their time to participate. We believe in being responsible with taxpayer dollars and we made an extra effort to do so while having fun.”
This performance is so energized, there is zero lack of fun! The solo lip sync segment is hilarious and dramatic. They got the lyrics on lockdown as they dance in front of the camera and own the song. There are some coordinated dance moves and dance circles that’s got everyone in on the action; one couple is doing the do-see-do, there’s a kid “flossing,” people are clapping, playing the air drums and even the babies are dancing! There’s not one unhappy person in this video.
I’m not going to lie, these officers have me wanting to participate in this lip sync challenge, too! Can I? Who wants to join?!
