Children’s Choir Belts Out “Moana” Song

When a choir sings, the power of many voices in unison is staggering. So much more depth and dimension can be attained through the joining of forces of so many voices. A choir is able to shift the harmony by singing together as one or breaking apart to create texture and fluidity. I’ve always loved hearing choirs and enjoyed singing in one as a child.

This is Voices of Hope Children’s Choir, a non-profit program based in California, USA, made up of over 70 talented children ages 5-17. They come from all different backgrounds, with varying degrees of experience. The program has been put into place for children regardless of their social or economic barriers – it is entirely tuition free!

Sarah Grandpré is the Director of Voices of Hope Children’s Choir and she brought the entire crew to “America’s Got Talent.” In their first audition, Simon asked her, “What would you do with the million dollars if you won the entire series of AGT?” Sarah doesn’t hesitate to respond, nearly cutting him off by saying, “If we win, we will put all that money back into this program so that we can reach more children with music!”

Well, they wowed the judges, and made it past the auditions! Now, this is their second performance and as per the judge’s recommendation, they’ve tightened up their vocals and performance, and they are ready to bring it. They chose the song, “How Far I’ll Go” from Disney’s “Moana” (MY FAVE!) and I have to say, it’s pretty darn good. I started to cry, and so did the judges, and one adorable little boy in blue from the choir.

From the choir vocals to the lead vocals, this performance will stir anyone’s heart. Sarah did a fabulous job of preparing the children for this incredible opportunity, and the love and emotion are so obvious! The judges are floored at the end of their performance, and guest judge Ken Jeong isn’t afraid to show it. After a few comments and exchanges, Ken says, “From all of us to all of you…” then slams the golden buzzer! Sarah and the kids are beyond thrilled, as the gold confetti showers down. It’s a beautiful moment that’s well deserved! Expect to hear more from this crew, they’ll be sticking around for a while!
