As a kid, I was always rummaging around the kitchen after dinner to get my hands on a little extra dessert. When everyone was done eating and chatting in the next room while digesting the big meal we just shared, I’d sneak off when no one was looking and scoop up extra yumminess! I always thought I was stealthy, proud of my sneaky ways to get a third or fourth serving! Just when I was stuffing my face and thought I was alone, I’d turn around to get busted by a friend or family member.
And there I’d be, a deer caught in the headlights, totally right in the middle of the act. I wouldn’t be able to deny it or put up a fuss. I’d have to own it and slowly back away, accepting that I’m guilty as charged.
This dog is me! I’ve been where he is, and that face is the face I make when I’d get caught as a kid and even now (yup, old habits die hard! I’m still sneaking snacks after a big family meal or special occasion).
This sly dog was minding his own business, playing in the water, with the pool all to himself. He’s not even making much noise or splashing around; he’s merely floating and enjoying. While he’s walking and bobbing around, he’s oblivious to his owner watching every move he makes – and on camera!
But the second the pup turns, he sees his owner and stops dead in his tracks. The dog is busted, and you can see it on his face, through his fur, and in his eyes. He’s been caught, and he knows he’s in trouble. The poor pup doesn’t lose eye contact as he slowly makes his way to the edge of the pool and hangs over to slide out, still looking straight into the camera.
He’s quiet, and calm and looks as guilty as ever! He’s finally out and moves closer to the bush. He’s standing there dripping wet unsure of what to do next, thinking, “Am I in trouble? I was just cooling down on this hot day, geez, it felt so nice!” He lets out a few barks as if to stand up for himself and say, “Yeah, so what!? What are you looking at?” Then he moves off screen and out of the camera’s view.
He knows he’s in trouble but he played it off well. This hilarious cool-as-a-cucumber pup is too cute to be mad at. I think he managed to get away with it!
