Life always comes with ups and downs and no instruction manual. You always have to find your own way out of problems you didn’t anticipate, but there is always light at the end of the tunnel. If, for some reason, you don’t believe in this saying, then maybe the story below will help change your mind.
Meet the Yeckes triplets, three kids who faced hardship after hardship, but triumphed in the end and defied all the odds. Sierra, Kassidy, and Haley once had no hope of completing elementary and high school, but today, they are soon to start their first year at college.
The teens say that they owe their success to one another and that if they didn’t have their siblings for their support, things wouldn’t have been as smooth and even possible.
The three sisters have lived without a lot in life: they have no parents, never had consistent housing, very little food to eat, and limited clothing to wear. They started working early in their lives to make ends meet for their small family of three. The girls even started school late because their grandmother, who was once looking after them, didn’t believe in school; they didn’t go to school until the age of eight.
Then their father was let out of prison, and so the sisters moved from their grandma’s to their dad’s home. But, he wouldn’t be around as often; he would be gone for weeks, and sometimes months, one end, leaving Sierra, Haley, and Kassidy to make their food and fend for themselves. The girls recall that one day when their father wasn’t home, their house got shot up. There were three bullets. They figured that things weren’t adding up, they were suspicious.
After this incident, they went to go live with their other grandparents but remember that even at their house they were given limited food and barely any clothes or toiletries. So, they soon started babysitting and working at a local grocery store. They would go to school and then straight to work right after; they would sometimes work until midnight and start their routine again in the morning.
Despite their hardships, all three girls maintained an above-average GPA of 4.0, leading them to get full scholarships to the University of Las Vegas. The girls also received special gifts for their graduation. It was an emotional surprise.
