I remember being 7-years-old and wanting nothing more than to play with my older sister’s Polly Pocket. I would come home from school, whip through any homework I had, even miss my favorite afterschool shows, and go straight up to my sister’s room and ask her for that little pink box that opens up to the doll’s magical world. Sometimes she would say, “Sure, it’s all yours!” Other days she would be the typical older sister and complain to my mom about how I’m always asking for her stuff. Argh!
See, that’s what I was doing at 7, but Louisa Johnson was on to bigger things at that age, and it all translated to the moment that we’re about to share with you today. Louisa is now 17-years-old, and she’s standing in front of four judges, waiting to start her act, on “The X Factor.”
As she takes her spot, you can tell she’s nervous. Simon asks her why she’s here today and to that, she answers, “This is my whole life.” When asked to elaborate on that statement, Louisa says that she’s been singing since she was seven and knew then that this is what she wanted out of her life. She wanted just to sing, and that this moment, the one in which she’s standing in front of these judges ready to prove her talent, means more than anything ever has.
Louisa’s mom says that her daughter sings all the time — at home, in the shower, bathroom, you name it, and she’s singing! Singing is her passion, and she’s here to prove it.
But, it seemed like the judges didn’t have much faith in her. They called her out on her nerves — she’s fidgeting, and you can sense it in her voice, which is shaking. One of the judges tells her just to breathe, and Louisa takes a long breath in and out before she starts.
The music begins, and Louisa is ready to sing Michael Jackson’s “Who’s Loving You.” All her nerves disappear as she jumps right into the song and that’s when you can instantly tell that she is made to sing. Simon had a look of concern on his face when the 17-year-old announced her song choice, but his face lit up the moment she started! She immediately proved that she’s here to stay! Not just Simon, but it’s all the judges that have big smiles and wide eyes taking over their faces. You don’t want to miss this!
